Just got a little better ; )!

Taking a Break... Silver Falls State Park!

From time to time we need to find balance... 

It was decided we needed time away from our big project so Bambi took us to Silver Falls State Park this weekend! 

A fabulous park close to home, lots of hiking and biking trails. 

My honey found this wonderful trail not far from our campsite.

With delightful views when peering through the windows...

Knowing we'd be spending time inside, I brought flowers to brighten it up our little space.  So glad I did because although we were supposed to be taking a break, I did a little work : )!

Time away does us good... Once again balance found!

Snow in Spring!

We woke to snow again this morning and the kid in me just had to get outside and enjoy!

I enjoyed walking in sunshine with freshly fallen snow! I was out for a couple of hours!

I saw a snowman and snowwoman enjoying an intimate moment...

And a park just waiting for kids to play... I'm guessing they were on their way!

Nothing like snow in Spring! Wonderful!

Broken Bread...

A new restaurant in town...

After a delightful lunch a couple of weeks ago at Broken Bread we were finally able to enjoy a fabulous dinner there.  We started off with tri-colored carrots and bleu cheese dip, we had those for lunch and I was looking forward to trying it again. So fresh and crisp with a dressing that doesn't overpower the carrots. Next we had green salads with the freshest lettuces, cabbages and a nice light dressing. These were both enjoyed with warm fresh bread.  My honey ordered the Braised Bison Back Ribs with Smashed Roots, Winter Vegetables. I ordered the Clams and Crostini; both were cooked to perfection. I only wish I had thought about taking a quick photo... because it was all beautifully prepared.  Luckily I thought about taking one of the dessert:

Panna Cotta with Cherry Rhubarb Jam... Oh my gosh! A perfect finish to a wonderful meal.

What I love about Broken Bread is the seasonings never overpower the fresh foods they prepare. You can find the menu on their blog.

Looking forward to going back for another tasty meal!

Saturday Market Bounty

It will be a week of healthy eating...

And happiness enjoying the beautiful flowers from this seasons final Saturday Market...

I suppose we'll head indoors to Salem Public Market starting next week!

"Roth's" Fresh Market Shopper!

This girl knows it's best to shop local and the place to shop for groceries is Roth's!  They have the best bakery, deli, produce, gourmet meat and let's not forget service!

She's a serious shopper!  Please do not try to help her,  do not touch her cart to direct her where she should be going, simply get out of her way!

A Little Hike on the Little N. Santiam

My honey loves the outdoors so on the weekends we try to get out for a little hike, it's the compromise he makes as he would love to backpack in and spend the entire weekend in the woods.  The compromise I made this weekend was heading east instead of north.  I love a little day hike in the Portland or Gorge area, because when the hike is over there's restaurants, shopping and other activity.  When we head east it's much more remote which sometimes makes me a little uneasy.  But with the remoteness comes a quiet solitude which can be nice too.

We enjoyed a very pleasant day as the rain we were supposed to have didn't arrive until after our hike, and hiking along the river made for a serene adventure.

It was a bit unnerving crossing the water on slippery logs...

We captured some kayakers coming down the wild river, a couple of them faired better than the third.  They asked for photos but unfortunately I haven't been contacted yet. Perhaps they'll see them here.

I really appreciate the area we live, so close to so many beautiful places.  It's easy to get caught up in the day to day routine, but it's necessary to get out and enjoy the outdoors.

Oregon State Fair... A Tradition!

I believe my children have made it to the fair just about every summer... now we're bringing Amber's little one:

Authentic Mexican Diner!

After a visit to the tulip festival we made our way to Woodburn to our favorite Mexican Restaurant

 

Food is amazing and quite colorful!

 

You'll find it's a busy place with lot of local families! Give it a try... you won't be disappointed!
