Welcome to the final day of Ribbon Jar's Blog Hop!
Thank you so much for joining in the fun. We were pleased to have all the women that participated, share their
creative ideas for our ribbon! A special Thank you to Amber @ Life in Color for helping me coordinate this fun event!
As one who likes to layer textures as well as color I selected this ribbon for my project: Himalayan Sky Polyester Grosgrain Ribbon 18mm, Curacao Dupioni Silk 18mm Ribbon, Atlantic Dupioni Silk 18mm Ribbon, Cadmium 20mm Herringbone Ribbon, and Mica Chambray Grosgrain Ribbon 12mm.
Together the colors and textures are fabulous! I love the design phase, deciding how I the ribbon will layer on a project.
Layering these blues create the accent color in my family room. Cadmium; the perfect complement to blue on the color wheel, is also the accent in my dining room!
The shade is softened and the colors blend when the light is on. You'll find details to this project at the bottome of this post.
We all started this hop with a little packet of ribbon filled with: Bordeaux Silk Melange, Cherry Stitched French Cotton, Barn Red Grosgrain, and a simple 12mm Cream Herringbone...
I chose to start with the Cherry Stitched French Cotton and an old sweater I found at Goodwill. Making my own pattern from an old pair of pants, I used Wondertape to position the ribbon. Have I mentioned how awesome Wondertape is? It really makes it easy to hold ribbon in place until it is stitched!
I made these a bit longer than the original and think they turned out quite nicely... Now if I just had a sweet little model nearby. Perhaps her mama will take a photo for me : )!
French Cotton Ribbon was brought in with little boys in mind. So often I think about using ribbon for girls, but it can be just as fun to embellish for little boys if you have the right ribbon.
I will share my other projects using the rest of the ribbon in another post...
