I've collected ribbon for quite some time now. It all started when Amber created Ribbon Jar, and I had to have all those beautiful jars of ribbon. As you know I have since taken it over and of course my collection has grown! I find it necessary to use up every little scrap I have and found this sweet little blanket to be my favorite way to use it up.
I start by laying a pile of complementary ribbon in the middle of the fabric and lay it out in somewhat random yet orderly fashion (these are not the best photos due to the evening light):
Next I pin the pieces of ribbon in towards the center of the blanket:
And stitch it down before laying the other side:
After placing the other side face-down, I stitch on the inside of basting stitch:
Once I turn it right side out I top-stitch the border:
I patched a bit of red I had left over from another blanket into this one, I love how it turned out:
I may have gotten a bit carried away with the amount of ribbon I used on this one, but I don't think so! Who says you can't put lots of ribbon on a boys blanket?
The little guy is sure to love this one!
