Summer Nightie...

I'm not one to hang on to clothes I don't wear any more and before I gave this old t-shirt away I decided it would be fun to see if I could re-purpose it!

The only thing wrong with this t-shirt is it was way to small. I think the dryer finally did a number on it! So I cut off the sleeves, neckline and took in the sides a bit.  I drew a line to attach a stretchy fishnet ribbon that will be available in the August Limited Edition Jar of the Month and Phlox Ribbon Pack.

I added a bit of reinforcement where I would be bringing the braided cord through (also available in Jars and Packs).

I fed it though the newly formed neckline (one that was softer and not so bulky as the one I cut off).

I think it looks adorable! So soft and the stretchy ribbon and cord makes it fit a little girl that much better.

A Lighter Version of Chocolate Mint Ice Cream...

If you've ever visited Savoring Time in the Kitchen, you've truly been inspired! Susan not only knows how to cook but she presents everything beautifully! Of course if you know me I never quite follow directions and well this time was no exception. I wanted to try my hand at making some chocolate mint ice cream and her recipe looked wonderful, but I wanted a lighter version.

I started with the mint...

Added it to the milk (sorry I didn't add eggs and only used 1/2 amount of cream and used whole milk instead)

Grated some fine chocolate...

Added it to the ice cream maker in the process...

Watched as it blended in...

Gave it a little extra freezer time...

And yes it was still delicious!...

I think I'm going to let my honey be the ice cream maker, I don't have the patience to wait for it to freeze up!

There's nothing quite like the "Oregon Country Fair"...  Entering into the wooded area you know you've entered into something quite different than every day life...

Especially the group I was with!

I'm thinking next year I'll have to be a little more creative with my dress...

Before and After Kitchen Remodel

A few months have gone by since I helped clients chose new counter tops for their kitchen.  Typically I would stage the kitchen and take the photos, but that has not been possible. But today I received the before and after shots. What a difference!

Before a very dated look... but then very trendy, back in the day!

New range, counter tops and backsplash give it a sleek and modern looK

Before the grout in tile was hard to keep clean.

New Caesarstone, White Ash makes cleaning a breeze. Clients put new hardware on cabinets to give some contrast.

Before a simple little backsplash.

The new backsplash is polished limestone 4" X 36"!  Love that it's not the size you're likely to see in a backsplash. The owner was afraid that it might date the kitchen, but their new look is timeless. The accent piece is Stream Marble in color Lava Stone, it has a rippled texture.

I love their updated look! and the Cook in the kitchen loves it too!

Taking Advantage...

Everything feels a bit different when the sun shines here in the Pacific NW; it's definitely easier to get out of bed and start the day! It's so seldom we see the sun that I don't't want to miss a minute of it. And with strawberries in season I have to take advantage of that too.  So the first thing I do is head out to the garden and pick a few strawberries...

Probably more than I needed...

But so delicioius with breakfast...

Sunshine and Strawberries... A perfect start to the day!
