Ok so I'm a bit obsessed with our new Ric-Rac! The colors are yummy... and so many less calories than the candy that sits on our buffet. I also love this fabric by Valori Wells Janaveve Linen Floral Birds Garden Fresh. It's part of the stash I purchased from Pink Chalk Fabric and I really wanted to show off both fabric and trim. After playing around with the Ric-Rac to find the perfect order this is what I came up with; I'm really happy with the results:
and
The back also has Ric-Rac, opposite of what's on the front. I created a pocket with the floral fabric with Pom-Pom trim so it looks like the front.
The process:
I actually just drew lines on the fabric before sewing the ric-rac on.
I thought 9 inches was just about the perfect proportion for front side, leaving 12 inches for the back.
I used a zig-zag stitch to baste the pom-pom trim on
Once it was on the back was place over the top and I stitched just a bit inside the stitch to cover the ribbon holding the pom-pom. Here is the back side covering the top before it was stitched.
The pocket on the back side makes it easy to place pillow inside.
Yes I know I should have gotten those last couple of photos... but you know how it is when you get really excited to finish a project!
Rachel at Maybe Matilda really liked my last pillow and featured it in her blog! I hope she likes this one even better!
