While filling vintage jars with really fun ric-rac yesterday I felt the need to play with a bit myself! I took home a rainbow of colors you might find in the jars and played with 1/2 yard pieces of different colors to see how they reacted to one another. My Pink Chalk Fabric stash was waiting patiently on the sewing table for me to use. I picked up the sunny Spring Street Swirl and started laying pieces of ric-rac out. This was my favorite combination.
Not to compete with the front I used a simple gray on the back:
I think it it works perfectly! Yellow and gray is one of my favorite color combinations!
It was a bit tricky deciding what color of thread to use, I definitely did not want to change thread with each different color of ric-rac. I ended up using Sulky 40 Color 942.
The color and sheen are perfect complement to the different shades of ric-rac!
And yes there is still more Pink Chalk fabric sitting on my craft table! I see they are going to use Ribbon Jar Ric-Rac in their next One Yard Wonders Sew Along Project!
