So I started with this chair that's been sitting in the corner of the room waiting for a better seat cover. First I removed the old, ugly fabric...
Next I had to remove the nails that were imbedded in the chair which proved to be a bit of a challenge...
Laying out the ribbon and deciding how the pieces would be arranged is not that much different than making a pillow, except that the ribbon on this seat was layered and sewn together. Using a double stick tape to hold the pieces together makes the sewing that much easier. I used a small zig-zag stitch to hold the pieces together.
After sewing together Peacock, Fig and Imperial Gold Satin, Cream, Cadmium, Lime and Ciel Herringbone...
I added Teal and Mustard Velvet for more texture...
I stretched the ribboned fabric over the seat of the chair and nailed it underneath where it had been nailed before. The challenge was putting the wood pieces back without having any marks to know where the screws should be put back.
It's not perfect, but the colors look fabulous next to the wall in the dining room!
and the best part...
It was completed by Sunday ; )!...
